How to install ETF Mod

Install Entity Texture Features on any platform in about five minutes. Works with Fabric, NeoForge and popular launchers.

Quick install in five steps

The same process on every desktop platform.

Install Minecraft Java Edition. Install the official launcher and run the Minecraft version you want once so its files exist.
Install a mod loader. Run the Fabric or NeoForge installer and choose your Minecraft version. A new launcher profile appears.
Download ETF. Get the ETF file for your exact Minecraft version and loader from Modrinth or CurseForge.
Add it to the mods folder. Place the .jar in .minecraft/mods. Add Mod Menu on Fabric if you want a settings button.
Launch and enable a pack. Start the loader profile, enable an ETF-compatible resource pack and press F3 + T to reload.

Platform-specific instructions

Select your system for exact folder paths and gotchas.

Run Minecraft once. Open the official launcher and start the version you want to mod, then close it.
Install the loader. Run the Fabric or NeoForge installer, pick the Client option and your Minecraft version.
Download ETF. Get the file for the same Minecraft version and loader from the download page.
Open the mods folder. Press Win + R, paste the path and press Enter. Path: %appdata%\.minecraft\mods
Add the jar and launch. Drop the ETF jar in, start the loader profile, and open Mods > Entity Texture Features to confirm it loaded.

If Windows asks how to open the Fabric installer, choose Java(TM) Platform SE binary, or use the .exe installer instead of the .jar.

Run Minecraft once. Open the official launcher and start the version you want to mod, then close it.
Install the loader. Run the Fabric or NeoForge installer, pick the Client option and your Minecraft version.
Download ETF. Get the file for the same Minecraft version and loader from the download page.
Open the mods folder. In Finder press Cmd + Shift + G and paste the path. Path: ~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/mods
Add the jar and launch. Drop the ETF jar in, start the loader profile, and open Mods > Entity Texture Features to confirm it loaded.

If macOS blocks the installer, right-click it, choose Open, then confirm. This happens because the installer is downloaded from the web.

Run Minecraft once. Open the official launcher and start the version you want to mod, then close it.
Install the loader. Run the Fabric or NeoForge installer, pick the Client option and your Minecraft version.
Download ETF. Get the file for the same Minecraft version and loader from the download page.
Open the mods folder. Open your file manager, press Ctrl + H to show hidden folders, then open the path. Path: ~/.minecraft/mods
Add the jar and launch. Drop the ETF jar in, start the loader profile, and open Mods > Entity Texture Features to confirm it loaded.

Flatpak launchers store data elsewhere, for example ~/.var/app/. Prism Launcher users can add mods from the instance's Mods tab instead.

There is no official Android version of Minecraft Java Edition. Community launchers can run it, but they are unofficial and performance depends on your phone.

Install a Java Edition launcher such as PojavLauncher or a maintained fork from its official source, and sign in with the Microsoft account that owns Java Edition.
Create a Fabric profile for your Minecraft version inside the launcher.
Add ETF to that profile's mods folder using the launcher's file manager.
Keep it light. Use a small resource pack and add Sodium or a mobile-friendly renderer the launcher recommends.

iOS has no official Java Edition. Community launchers such as Amethyst need sideloading and, on many devices, JIT enabled. Expect more setup and variable performance.

Sideload a Java Edition launcher using the method its developers document.
Enable JIT if the launcher requires it, following its instructions.
Create a Fabric instance and import the ETF jar into its mods folder.
Test with a small pack before adding shaders or large texture packs.

Installing on NeoForge

Run the NeoForge installer for your Minecraft version and choose Install client.
Launch the NeoForge profile once, then close the game.
Put the NeoForge build of ETF in the mods folder.
Open Mods on the title screen to reach ETF's settings.

Using a launcher instead
